FAQ about singing lessons

Can anyone learn to sing?

Yes, anyone and everyone can learn to sing! Whether you want to work on pitch, rhythm, self-doubt, lack of confidence, dynamics or nailing your favourite karaoke tune,  I promise to provide a safe space where you can explore and be inspired by your voice and all that it can do.

Much like any other skill, the ability to sing comes from practice and repetition, as well as knowing the right technique. Many of us are taught to think that some people are musically gifted whereas others are not, but I would argue that these very gifted individuals have also spent a lot of time learning/playing/singing music from possibly quite a young age. This is not to say that you can't learn when you're older – you absolutely can! Starting or re-starting a hobby at a more mature age can be incredibly liberating and fun.

Can singing lessons help me to extend my vocal range?

Absolutely! Proper technique doesn't only allow you to sing with more freedom and expression, it will open up so many new pathways to singing in different registers and styles. Whether you want to reach really high notes, strengthen your mid range, or dig deep and low, in my lessons I will teach you the tools to be able to sing the songs you want to sing.

Do I have to prepare for a vocal lesson?

No prior preparation, experience or practice is needed for a singing lesson; I warmly welcome everyone exactly as they are. During the first session we can talk about your wishes in case you're unsure of what you want to get from the lessons. If you feel comfortable singing a song or part of one in your first session, you can sing along to a backing track, bring sheet music, or sing without any accompaniment. There is no need to know any music theory, how to read music, etc. A love for music and singing is all you need!
